How’d you like to get shot 120 feet into the air and land in the drink? Vooray, a clothing company sponsored this event that included an apparatus that they dubbed the “human sling shot slip and slide.” Skeptical? Watch the video below and you’ll surely agree.
To accomplish this feat of wonderment, they lined one side of the pond/lake with a slippery material comparable to a slip and slide. At the end of the run was a ramp designed specifically to accomodate an inner tube, which is “shot” into the air by an ATV towing a line on the opposite side of the pond. There is a great shot of the winch system drawing smoke, which is surely a testament to the amount of torque that went into slinging its riders.
According to the film’s producer, Devin Supertramp, he wasn’t paid for the production work or the filming. Noble, since 3 people passed out after hitting the water. For the record, the diameter of the pond is just 150 feet. Some riders flew up to 120 feet in distance, so perhaps they passed out from the fear of almost hitting the ground, not the impact of the water’s surface.
